About TUUNGANE

Tuungane is a self-motivated charity founded in 2004 to promoting the well-being (socially, mentally, physically and economically) of humankind as well as increase their self-confidence and independence in building their personal and community sustainable development throughout the world.

Tuungane offers help to those in need within the areas of Education, Health, Water, Food, and spiritual, security and emergency relief.

Tuungane respect and values the holistic creation of human being by God. It relies on donors like you to achieve the work that it does in Tanzania, and soon to be opened in other countries of the world.

Tuungane’s relief and development programs fall into ten categories for which you can support and join:

·        Provide relief to people in crisis. Food, clothing, medicines and other supplies are given to people in crisis for immediate and life threatening needs.

·        Helps the poor produce a product they can sell. This program enables people to lift themselves out of poverty and provides food, clothing, health care and an education for their families.

·        Maternal/Child Health: TUUNGANE works to protect children by stressing growth monitoring, oral dehydration therapy, breast-feeding, and immunization for children. And for parents, TUUNGANE provides education in nutrition, hygiene, child spacing, and child care. TUUNGANE 's projects concentrate on helping children reach age 5 - at which point they have a higher chance of living a full life

·        Community Farming: TUUNGANE helps people produce better food for nutrition and for income generation. Programs include seed banks, water reservoirs, poultry growing, fish hatcheries, greenhouses, vegetable gardens, and land terracing and the related activities

·        Water Resources: Clean water means less disease. It means increased crop production and better nutrition. TUUNGANE tries to provide clean drinking water to villages by developing wells, reservoirs, irrigation systems, sewage, and storm drainage.

·        Education and Training: TUUNGANE's education and training activities range from classes for all (priorities is given to disadvantages groups, such as women, disables, girls and in rural areas) to technical assistance for volunteers and self-motivated professionals. They emphasize training workers to be self-sufficient for long-term personal and community improvement.

·        Food Aid: TUUNGANE uses food aid in its mother/child health programs, and supplemental food programs for primary school children. For example, Food-for-Work programs promote projects that benefit whole communities - roads, schools, and community centres. In these projects, village workers receive food for wages.

·        Community and Institutional Development: Clinics, dispensaries, hospitals, primary and secondary schools, Communication centers, Vocational and Training schools, colleges, and floating medical clinics benefit from TUUNGANE's work. TUUNGANE builds and equips these institutions by providing supplies, equipment, books, and furnishings.

·        Women in Development: This is one of the most important aspects of TUUNGANE's work. By teaching women how to read, how to do simple accounting, and teaching them trade skills, they are empowered to drastically improve their families' lives

·        Empowers pastors and evangelists to share the love of Christ in poor communities. Poverty is not just about a lack of physical resources, but also about spiritual and emotional needs. The pastors and Evangelists we support expose the spiritual issues involved in poverty and many come to know the hope found in a relationship with Jesus Christ.

TUUNGANE Vision

TUUNGANE envisages the day when all of the sadness and suffering that surrounds us now is replaced with a new heaven and a new earth...where there shall no longer be any death or mourning, or crying, or pain (Revelation, chapter 21, verses 1 and 4).

TUUNGANE firmly believes that such a new earth will come, but until that time TUUNGANE is commissioned to work on behalf of every suffering infant, child, and adult who comes within our areas of influence. TUUNGANE is committed to reflect the character of our God by recognizing the personhood of each individual we serve, which in turn guarantees our demand for excellence in all activities.

We believe that God loves everybody as an individual, regardless of age, past life, sickness, race, colour, caste or religion.

We believe He wants us to show this love and compassion by helping those in real need.

FRIENDS OF TUUNGANE (FOT)

The Friends of Tuungane (FOT) is a self-motivated program within “Tuungane” and comprises of a small core of individuals who between them contribute the running costs of “TUUNGANE” with no outside assistance. This allows 100% of the normal gifts to “TUUNGANE” to be used for the purpose for which they were intended - helping the very poor- without any deductions.

Ecotourism

TUUNGANE Unity Center will create an ecotourism cooperative to maximize opportunities for individuals and communities to be the creators and owners of common wealth. Each tour includes enthralling experiences in the natural environment, as well as a deep introduction to one or more human communities. The introductions can be as brief as a one- to three-hour community presentation of culture, identity, goals, achievements and needs, or as extensive as an apprenticeship in traditional art, music or spiritual practices that lasts for months or years. In between are week-long drumming workshops, and stays in family homes of one day to a month in duration.

 

Ecotourism in Africa holds special meaning for people of the African Diaspora, whether your ancestors were seized as slaves, or they emigrated as adults. It creates a relatively inexpensive, organized path back to your own Roots – one that directly and indirectly strengthens the community you find there, both immediately and over the years to come.

Ecotourism supports conservation and rural development by helping to protect valuable natural areas and generate income for local economies.

2. TUUNGANE VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

Tuungane is running volunteer services, which brings self-motivated volunteers to Tanzania for community development projects such as:

-         Health campaigns against malaria, HIV/AIDS, etc.

-         Education Training> teachers of all levels

Tuungane takes all volunteers types for volunteerism in Tanzania. Regardless of how your skill is, come and experiences the love of God by working with local community. 3. Tuungane Safari: is a development program, which is done four times a year (January, April, July and October). During this time a group of self-motivated volunteers (comprising of all skills, ranging from cleaner to great professional) travel to Tanzania for the period of two to three weeks, at our planned Unity Center and surrounding villages& communities for activities such as building, Health counseling, etc. In this programme, each participant will be required to contribute financially or materially for the development to be held according to his/ her professional.
